About The Goblin

Let me introduce you to The Goblin, a sushi restaurant that quietly stands out once you know where to look. Tucked along Southbound Gratiot Ave in Clinton Township, this spot feels like one of those places you hear about from a friend who really knows food. From the moment you think about stopping by, The Goblin gives off a relaxed, welcoming energy that makes sushi feel approachable rather than intimidating. I like how it balances that laid-back vibe with a menu that still feels thoughtful and well put together. Whether you’re swinging by for a quick bite between errands or planning a more relaxed dine-in experience, it fits easily into your day. Service options are flexible too, which is always a win; no-contact delivery and regular delivery make staying in effortless, while takeaway and on-site dining work perfectly when you want sushi on your own terms. What really pulls me in, though, is the range of offerings. Alongside classic comfort food choices, you’ll find healthy options that don’t feel like an afterthought, plus small plates that are great for sharing or sampling a few different flavors. Vegetarian options are clearly part of the conversation here, not just tacked on, which makes the menu feel inclusive and modern. There’s also coffee available, which might sound unexpected at a sushi restaurant, but somehow it works, especially if you’re settling in or grabbing something quick. The Goblin feels like the kind of place where the atmosphere doesn’t rush you, yet it respects your time if you’re in a hurry. Everything about it suggests a restaurant that understands how people actually eat today, blending convenience with quality in a way that feels natural rather than forced.

Thank goodness for Chef Joe and Awesome Arisa! I have been avoiding most sushi places (while craving it) but happened upon the good reviews for this location while on the job in St. Claire Shores. I decided to give them a whirl and I couldn't be happier. I had the yellowtail roll, spicy tuna roll and some bbq eel - they all hit the spot, the service was great and now I have a go-to for quality sushi - thank you Joe, thank you Arisa at Goblin Sushi of Clinton Township!

The rice is cooked to perfection. Very well seasoned, staff was very nice, and the decor is cute and clean and aesthetic. Our current favorite sushi place!

A quaint sushi spot with a playful ambiance and friendly staff. Food was well made and great for the price. Our food came out quickly and the woman at the counter was helpful at point out the options. For being as white and bright as this sushi spot is it was uniquely cozy and made for an enjoyable meal. I'll be coming back :)

This is AMAZING. I love how fresh everything was and how they list stuff properly on their website to ensure you of quality. My first time trying and I am so impressed. I have eaten sushi for years all over but have never tried this little gem. Will be trying their other locations as well. I got the salmon bowl, spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll, chicken teriyaki roll and some roe. Everything was delicious! The rice was so fresh and yummy and sticky not old and hard and cold. It was perfect.

I’ve been loyal to Goblin since 2019 when I moved to the area and was looking for a sushi place. They had just opened and quickly became my sushi obsession They have a small dining area, modernly decorated, and it’s a fun experience to sit up at the bar and watch the sushi chefs. Joe, the owner, is down-to-earth and truly knows his craft. Hands-down, my favorite place in the area to get the best, FRESH sushi. Their impeccable quality and service is top notch! The sushi platter is the way to go and makes an excellent staple for parties! The Alaskan roll is one of my favorites, along with their belly salmon with house made soy (this is available on request but usually in limited quantities so make sure to ask if available) Also, if you’re in the mood for dessert, try the Matcha cheesecake!

Great, friendly accommodating owner! Joe and his small team are very nice. Adorable cozy clean sushi spot. Friendly cashier and staff always welcoming you in. My favorite roll is the Alaska roll, but I’ve also had their fresh nigiri set and the penguin platter is full of variety. It would be great for a party platter as it’s delicious! I have frequented this spot often for quick lunches when I’m shopping or out in that side of the city in Roseville. Would highly recommend, a small friendly gem. Very casual but like-able!

My favorite sushi spot in Southeast Michigan, and that includes Royal Oak and Birmingham. I highly recommend the Cali bowl with crab salad, , Alaska and a Caterpillar rolls. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Great vibe in there. The sushi menu is somewhat limited but I think it's just a lack of gimmicky rolls, which is fine. Everything tasted fresh.
